Area is measured in square units e.g. square centimetres ( cm2 ), square kilometres ( km2 ), square miles etc.

Check itAfter trying a few rectangles in the grid you will see that the area is always the length times the width of the rectangle,
area = length x width
e.g. 4 x 6 = 24
and it's the same for any units, so
So, to find the area of the whole grid you could count all the squares, but it is quicker to use a calculator to find out that 15 x 15 = 225 , i.e. the area is 225 squares.
